Complete guide to give assignments/homework in a course.

The instructor can assign homework to the learners in MeritHub. This can be done in the following manner:

  1. Select the Courses/Batches option on the home screen of the particular organization.

  1. Select the course in which you want to assign the homework.

  1. Select a batch from the list of the batches and click on the Content option.

  1. Click on the Add option and select Assignments option from the drop down menu.

  1. Assign a title and add description to the new assignment.

  1. Choose a due date and due time for the assignment. The instructor can also allow late submissions by marking the check box against allow late submissions option which will ask the instructor to add a close date and close time for the assignment.

  1. The instructor can also Lock Submissions at any point of time which will disable submissions for the assignment. This can be done by marking the checkbox against lock submissions.

  1. The instructor can also enable Email Notifications for new submissions and grades by marking the checkbox against email notifications option.

  1. Scale type can also be decided which can be ungraded, percentage, numeric, custom or rubric.

  1. For the percentage scale type the instructor needs to mention the passing score of the assignment.

  1. For the numeric scale type the instructor needs to mention the maximum score and the passing score.

  1. The Instructor can also create a custom scale type as per the need of the assignment. For example A, B, C, D, etc. Or it could be Emerging, Proficient, Professional, Expert, and Master, etc.

  1. A rubric is a scoring tool that explicitly represents the performance expectations for an assignment. A rubric divides the assigned work into component parts and provides clear descriptions of the characteristics of the work associated with each component, at varying levels of mastery. The instructor can define all the components to be evaluated and also define the criteria that how their score will vary in these components.

  1. Click on the Create option in the bottom right corner of the window to confirm the creation of the new assignment.

  1. The added assignment will be shared as an update in the batch updates and the instructor can edit the details of the assignment at any point of time by simply clicking on the assignment under the Content section of the batch and clicking on the Edit option.

  1. The learners can view the assignment under the content section of the batch or it can also be viewed from the recent updates that have been posted by the teacher.

  1. The learners can click on the Submit option to write their assignment. The learners can add text, images, files, embed links and add attachments to the assignment and then click on the Submit option to submit the assignment to the teacher.

  1. The instructor can view the submitted assignments under the submissions of the respective assignment. Click on View to have a look at the submitted assignment.

  1. The instructor can send an instant reply to the learner by clicking on the Reply option.

  1. Further the assignment can be graded by clicking on the Grade option and typing a feedback if necessary. The instructor can mark the assignment as graded by selecting the mark as graded option or can return the assignment for revision if needed.
