MeritHub technologies pvt ltd.(“MeritHub”, “we”, “us”), is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience when you use our virtual classroom and collaboration services (the “Services”), visit our webpages, interact with us on social media or webpages, or through email, skype or phone.
This document explains MeritHub’s practices when we process your “personal data,” which is information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual. To “process” or “processing” means any use of personal data including, transferring, collecting, recording, storing, using, analyzing, combining, disclosing or deleting it.
This document applies to the personal data we process as a data controller, that is, as the party that determines what data to collect and why. You provide some of this data directly, and we get some of it by collecting data about your interactions, use, and experiences with the Services. The data we collect depends on the context of your interactions with MeritHub and the choices you make, including the products and features you use.
MeritHub (“we” or “us”) can modify this Privacy Policy, and if we make material changes to it, we will provide notice through our Services, or by other means, to provide you the opportunity to review the changes before they become effective. If you object to any changes, you may close your account.
You acknowledge that your continued use of our Services after we publish or send a notice about our changes to this Privacy Policy means that the collection, use and sharing of your personal data is subject to the updated Privacy Policy, as of its effective date.
To create an account you need to provide data including your name, email address, country time zone, mobile number, phone, user type (individual / org / industry) and a password. If you register for a premium Service, you will need to provide payment (e.g., credit card) and billing information. Some of these fields we can collect while you contact us or request a demo.
We use different methods to collect data from and about you including through:
We collect information about how you use our Products, such as the types of content you view or engage with; the features you use; the actions you take; the people or accounts you interact with; and the time, frequency and duration of your activities. We use this date to show it back to you. For example, If you interact with a teacher/peer that interaction will be visible to both of you.
We also collect tech/device data to optimize your experience that may include including type and frequency of actions taken, number of logs in or class entries, date and time, duration, quantity, quality, network connectivity, other platform performance metrics, and feature usage information, including use of video and screen sharing; and information about a user’s device, network, and internet connection, such as IP address(es), MAC address, other device ID, device type, operating system type and version, type of camera, microphone and speaker, and browser.
Profile information helps you to get more from our Services, including helping people to know more about you and your profession. It’s your choice whether to include sensitive information on your profile and to make that sensitive information public. Please do not post or add personal data to your profile that you would not want to be publicly available. You can also set your image. We display your image/avatar to classroom participants and other people in your network.
Customer content is the “in-session” information you give us directly through your use of the Services, such as files, chat logs, and transcripts, and any other information you may upload while using the Services. MeritHub uses customer content only in connection with providing the Services – we do not monitor, sell or use customer content for any other purposes.
We do not control the actions of anyone with whom you or any other Service user may choose to share information. Therefore, we cannot and do not guarantee that any customer content you or any user provides to the Services will not be viewed by unauthorized persons. Nor can MeritHub control the information a user may choose to share during a class or outside class. Although MeritHub account holders can set privacy options that limit access to certain areas of the Services, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. You should be cautious about the access you provide to others when using the Services, and the information you choose to share when using the Services.
The protection of private information is fundamental to the trust MeritHub users have given us when choosing our service. In order to be compliant with GDPR we have implemented the necessary mechanism in our platform and practices.
We ask for cookie permission at our pages before users opt for service.
GDPR empowers data subjects (aka our users) with certain rights to help assure the privacy and protection of their personal data. To exercise these rights:
Right of access: You can request more information about the personal data we hold about you.
Right of rectification: If you believe that any Personal Data we are holding about you is incorrect or incomplete, you can correct it by visiting our platform.
Right to object/restrict processing: You can unsubscribe from our mails/newsletter or you can delete data anytime.
Right to ensure: When deleting a user, associated data, and cloud recordings can be deleted with or without transfer of this data to another licensed MeritHub user, depending on your account administrator’s privacy and security policies.
Withdrawal of Consent: If we are processing your data based on your consent (as indicated at the time of collection of such data), you may have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can delete your account or email us at support@merithub.com or unsubscribe from our marketing communications by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of marketing emails.
No fee usually required: You will not have to pay a fee to access your personal data (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we could refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.
What we may need from you: We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. We may also contact you to ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed up our response.
Time limit to respond: We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. Occasionally it could take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated.
In addition to the privacy training that all MeritHub employees receive during on-boarding and annually thereafter, employees with roles that are customer facing (e.g. sales team) have been trained on GDPR and how it impacts their roles.
MeritHub is committed to protecting your personal data. We use reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction, taking into due account the risks involved in the processing and the nature of the personal data.
