Renewable and Non-Renewable Resources

We will be discussing the differences between renewable and nonrenewable resources. A nonrenewable resource is a natural substance that is not replenished with the speed at which it is consumed. It is a finite resource. Fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas, and coal are examples of nonrenewable resources. Renewable resources are the opposite: Their supply replenishes naturally or can be sustained.
1. AND
RENEWABLE
RESOURCES
2. HMMMM....
What do you
think
resources are?
Break it down...
Resource?
3. NONRENEWABLE RESOURCES
A nonrenewable resource is a
natural resource that cannot be
re-made or re-grown at a scale
comparable to its consumption.
4. NUCLEAR ENERGY
Nuclear fission
uses uranium to
create energy.
Nuclear energy is
a nonrenewable
resource because
once the uranium
is used, it is
gone!
5. COAL, PETROLEUM, AND GAS
Coal, petroleum,
and natural gas are
considered
nonrenewable
because they can
not be replenished
in a short period of
time. These are
called fossil fuels.
6. HOW IS COAL MADE ???
7. HOW ARE OIL AND GAS
MADE ???
8. WHAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN COAL AND OIL/GAS?
9. HMMMM....
If nonrenewable
resources are
resources that
cannot be re-made at
a scale comparable
to its consumption,
what are renewable
resources?
10. RENEWABLE RESOURCES
Renewable resources
are natural resources
that can be
replenished in a short
period of time.
