Paper is one of the main areas where college students can save
the environment and their pockets! The less you need to
restock your paper supplies, the better.
Here are a few simple tips to get started:
Use both sides of paper when writing notes.
Avoid taking handfuls of paper napkins from the cafeteria.
Be selective while printing; double check the document you’re
printing.
Use refillable binders instead of notebooks.
Go digital!!

16. Announcement was made for various activities to be undertaken by the students along
with faculties and office staff like essay writing, poster presentation and PowerPoint
presentation etc. The theme for these events was "My Initiative to Make My Campus Green,
Clean and Eco-Friendly".
September 8, 2018 was especially marked for this event for a get-together to observe
the Swachhta Pakhwada with special emphasis. Students of the department prepared and
presented handmade posters on the above theme to raise awareness about cleanliness,
greenery and eco-friendliness on the campus. The posters portrayed crucial elements of
nature, present day scenario of the resources being used, methods to preserve mother earth,
Similarly, a fine and instructive PowerPoint presentation was presented by the students
which highlighted the recent events such as “The great smog of Delhi” and the “Kerala floods”,
caused due to mishandling and undue usage of the earth’s resources and our inability to keep
our environment clean. This short presentation also mentioned important ways by which
electricity, trees, water and other resources can be efficiently used. A slide was also dedicated
to lab etiquettes, proper handling of the glasswares, hazardous materials, etc. This
presentation is available on our departmental website at the following link: <

17. Both the students and teachers discussed about the importance of cleanliness and ways
to improve cleanliness in the department, on the campus and in our respective ambience
where we live. The teachers especially emphasized that we must take special care to ensure
that our homes, labs, offices, communities, roads and all public places must be kept clean. We
all can take small steps at a time like not throwing garbage on road but in appropriate dustbins
assigned for the same. No public place on the campus should be littered. Use of plastic should
be avoided. Recyclable material should be used and garbage should be disposed in appropriate
dustbins. It was pledged that we all will do our best to maintain cleanliness.
Following the presentation, a quiz was also conducted based on the same theme to
raise awareness about Swachhata in India and several event associated with it like awards for
cleanest city, municipality etc. The quiz and presentation raised awareness about various facts
related to the conservation of the greenery and curbing pollution. Overall the students
enthusiastically participated in the event and it turned out to be informative and motivating.
The students presented bamboo saplings to teachers for use in their offices and
laboratories. Our efforts to keep our campus and society clean and green will live on.
