Refugee FORA

Our mission is to ensure that refugee families are provided access to an education sufficient to prepare them to become economically self-sufficient and robustly engaged in American civic life.

We provide individually customized high dosage tutoring (HDT) to SLIFE (Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education) refugee children and ESL classes for their adult family members.

We value patience, kindness, wellness, intercultural connection, a passion for learning and a determined resilience... and modeling these values for others.

We are staffed by professional and volunteer tutors who are dedicated to making Chicago a city where refugees can thrive.

Our strategy is to be conveniently located for the refugee clients we serve. Our empowerment center in the historic West Ridge neighborhood of Chicago is within walking distance of more than 400 refugee families.
