About

Shortly after completing my Bachelors degree in Psychology in 2008, I established my private practice as part of the Academic Intervention Team at Midstream Educational Services.

My practice focused on providing remedial lessons tailored to the needs of students to overcome their academic difficulties. The Intervention Team collaborated across their fields of expertise (occupational therapists, audiologist, educational psychologists, and vision therapists) to provide academic interventions for students who were shortlisted as needing additional support to maintain the academic standards of Midstream College.

My practice provided academic support, lesson planning, behavioural interventions and educational guidance to parents who were often confused and overwhelmed by the myriad of schooling options available - parents whose children had been diagnosed with severe Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD and Cerebral Palsy. Teaching parents how to support the needs of their children, in addition to providing tutoring services structured around their academic requirements, was what we did on a daily basis.

The holistic approach we followed yielded excellent results for our students. I soon found myself managing my own team of travelling tutors in order to expand our services into the homeschooling market. I had worked with so many students who could not cope with the demands of mainstream schooling, as their needs were too diverse to be integrated into neurotypical classrooms. I knew the homeschooling market would be dominating the educational support sector within the next few years due to public schools being overwhelmed by numbers and private schools not being within the financial means of so many parents.

Providing travelling services also means that our practice is cloud-based and coordinated with all our clients, tutors, parents, and other educational professionals involved in the treatment of our students.
