Meta Prep

Our vision is for all children to feel confident in their own abilities and foster a life-long love of learning. We want children to understand how their brain works and use this information to become self-evaluative and self-regulated learners.

The use of ‘metacognitive strategies’ which encourage pupils to plan, monitor and evaluate their learning, as suggested by the EEF evidence (EEF Guidance Report, 2018), can be worth an additional 7 months’ progress. The wider benefits for children who are equipped as meta-learners ensures that they are: skilled, independent and reflective learners; with greater motivation for learning; and have improved attitudes, behaviours and coping strategies in and out of the classroom.
