The LSAT measures skills considered essential for success in law school. It does not test students on any specific studies. The three multiple-choice question types in the LSAT are Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning (Logic Games) and Logical Reasoning.

The GRE revised General Test (as of August 2011) measures your verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills. It does not measure skills related to any specific studies. The three testing sections are Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Analytical Writing.

TOEFL is administered via the Internet, and is a very important part of the college/graduate program enrollment process in an English-speaking country.

The ACT includes four subject area tests plus a 40-minute Writing Test. ACT results are accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. The test features 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete. Writing section is optional and is 40 minutes. I recommend students take the writing test as some schools recommend or require it.
