About

Founded in 1949, LA Valley College is a 105-acre urban oasis located just minutes away from Hollywood, Beverly Hills, downtown Los Angeles, and the beaches of Santa Monica, Malibu, and major motion picture and television studios. The beautiful park-like campus is also well known as is the first community college in California to be a Tree Campus USA. Under the leadership of President Dr. Barry Gribbons, LAVC is leading community colleges in the state with approximately 20,000 students. It is a Hispanic-serving institution, and serves the communities of Valley Glen, Van Nuys, North Hollywood, Panorama City, Pacoima, Sherman Oaks, Valley Village, Studio City, Encino, Tarzana, Burbank, and beyond. Valley College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges that is part of the Western Associate of Schools and Colleges. It is also one of largest of the campuses in the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). In addition, LAVC offers many special programs to help first time and/or historically disadvantaged groups be successful in college.
