The Greater University Tutoring Service (GUTS) was created in 1974 as a student organization dedicated to empowering University of Wisconsin-Madison students as active, independent learners and to cultivate a prosperous educational environment. Students, peer tutors, and staff work together through a system of cooperative learning to foster their personal and academic growth.

GUTS is the largest student-run, volunteer tutoring organization in the nation. Each year, GUTS assists thousands of UW-Madison students succeed in their educations thanks to the generous spirit of hundreds of volunteer tutors.

The Greater University Tutoring Service (GUTS) is a Registered Student Organization (RSO) supported by non-allocable segregated fees and dedicated to connecting UW students with volunteer tutors for assistance with academic courses, language learning, and study skill support. We provide free tutoring and mentoring to hundreds of students and university affiliates each semester!
