French to take away

My name is Marina, I am a native French, from the south of France near Carcassonne. I have been living in Edinburgh for 7 years and I have been teaching French for 3 years.

Although I started a totally different career when I arrived in Scotland, I always knew that teaching was my true passion. In 2018, I started my own tutoring business with the intention to gather in my teaching everything that studying English and living abroad taught me about the mechanism of language learning. At the same time, I started a degree in psychology (my other passion) with the Open University, a course that is still ongoing.

But it is in February 2021 that I found the way I was looking for to bring my teaching to another level. Fascinated with learning and teaching, looking for ways to improve both, I undertook an intensive, high-level course in memory techniques, focus, processing and speed reading. This radically transformed my approach to teaching and gave me the tools to enhance both my own learning and my students'. I suddenly realised that the memorisation process, which is usually left down to the students, could be directly included in the teaching, allowing quicker learning and more time for the student to do homework at home.

I then designed my own comprehensive method, with materials entirely presented in a way that is directly and easily memorable, and in including guided memorisation sessions in each lesson. Gathering all my current knowledge from experience and courses about the brain and the memorisation process, I created content completely different from the traditional academic methods.
