KS1/KS2 tutoring give children the skills they need for secondary school. Our tutor’s lessons are designed specifically to spark a passion for learning, and our tutors are here to teach young children to appreciate education and to give them a head start that will allow them to learn new concepts in a fun and effective way. Inspired by educational psychologist Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, we at EmpowerOwl recognize that children learn in different ways. We leverage each child’s unique skills to help them learn better. Our tutors offer a personalized curriculum to focus on each child’s unique needs and observe and evaluate their progress constantly.

Children in reception begin to learn about numbers and how to work with them in simple calculations. The introduction of the number line will assist your child in adding, subtracting and counting in twos and fives. Your child will be taught about 2D and 3D shapes and describing events in a chronological manner.

Your child will start to develop a strong base in literacy through communication and language activities such as role play and show and tell. They will progress from learning the alphabets to using high frequency words in sentences and phonic blends. Most important of all your child will begin handwriting, being taught how to hold a pencil and eventually form letters and sentences.

As your child develops key listening and communication skills in English, they will learn to observe, reason and discuss in science classes. They will begin to investigate scientific ideas and theories by studying the natural world around them and learn to represent and present data in charts and reports.
