And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His name shall be called Wonderful, declares the prophet, and we dare not skip by what this name means. 1. Even while He was on earth he had “power on earth to forgive sins” (Matt. ) 2. He had power to “lay down his life” (Jn. ) 3. “All power is given unto me in Heaven and in earth” (Matt. ) 4. He had power to heal sicknesses and cast out devils (Mk. ) 5. He had power over creation (Mk. ) 6. Isaiah has no bearing upon the position and titles of the three Persons of the Trinity with regard to each other; it does not indicate the relation of Deity to itself, but the relation of Jesus Christ to us. He is forever father-like in his character and action toward his spiritual children.
