Suzanna Bortz still can't decide if it's more fun to teach or to learn. After 30+ years as a bilingual classroom teacher in the Santa Ana Unified School District, special education teacher in Capistrano Unified School district, and Title 1 reading interventionist at Journey Charter School, Suzanna's life was dramatically changed when mothers of two students enlightened her about dyslexia's impact on their children's lives. She discovered that 1 out of 5 people have dyslexia and although effective instruction is available, it's not usually offered in schools. Certified at the Advanced Level in the Barton Reading and Spelling System, Suzanna focuses on students (of all ages) with dyslexia. When not teaching she enjoys reading, walking, watching mysteries with her husband, and volunteering with the family therapy dog.
