Courses/Programs offered

SPaG Spelling – includes different stategies used to spell common exception words, word endings, prefixes, spelling rules and so much more. Word Class – including nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, determiners, suffixes and many more. Sentence Structure – includes using punctuation, conjunctions, coordination, subordination, prepositions, expanded noun phrases, tenses, clauses, fronted adverbials and many more. Writing Styles – including presenting information in a variety of different ways including fiction and non fiction such as stories, reports and instructions.

Reading Phonics – linking sounds (phonemes) and the symbols that represent them (graphemes). Vocabulary – thinking and clarifying words being read. Inference – using evidence from the text to justify how the characters think, feel and act. Explain – how the choice of words and phrases chosen by the author affect the narrative. Predict – develop an ability to say what might happen based on what they already know. Summarise – the main ideas in a given text. Retrieve – finding key details or information in the text and extracting them.

Maths All aspects of the Maths curriculum is covered which incorporates a mix of: Fluency – teaches content in a range of representations and key mathematical facts that can be recalled quickly and accurately. Problem Solving – finding a way to apply knowledge and skills gained to answer unfamiliar types of problems. Reasoning – developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language. Providing opportunities to enrich, deepen and broaden your child’s knowledge.
