About

Bloomington Tutors was founded in 2013 by Alex Weissman, a graduate student in IU's School of Informatics and Computing. Using his years of experience as a math tutor at the University of Maryland, Alex began working with IU students in finite math, calculus, and K201. He realized there was a great demand for personalized, one-on-one help, and that the resources provided by the university were simply not enough.

Courses/Programs offered

event_available Accounting The math for accounting isn't too hard - it's just adding, subtracting, and multiplying. However, there are some tricky conceptual questions, and the homeworks and exams require you to keep a lot in your head at once. Get things sorted out with one of our expert tutors.
event_available Calculus If you're going into a field such as business or science, you can bet that you will have to take calculus in some form or another. Even if you took calculus in high school, calculus at IU can be somewhat different. M119 tends to focus much more on applications, many of which are related to business and finance. It can be challenging, but whether you are taking M119 or M211 our tutors can help.
event_available Chemistry Chemistry is one of those subjects where you're either gonna love it or hate it. If you love it, that's great! Our chemistry tutors will make sure you succeed. If you and chem don't have such good - well, chemistry - but you still need to complete a required course, that's ok too. Our chemistry specialists not only love chemistry enough for you both, they love to teach it as well!
event_available Finite Maths Let's face it - if you go to IU, you're going to have to take finite at some point. It's a core requirement, so not many people take it by choice. On top of that it moves at a very fast pace, so it's easy to fall behind. Fortunately, our finite tutors can help you keep up. As you work through problems with your tutor, he or she can help keep you on track. Or if you are just completely lost and have no idea where to begin, your tutor can give you a crash course and explain the material clearly and in a way that makes sense to you.
event_available K201 and Business Our world is saturated with data. Now more than ever, businesses need to be able to organize and harness the vast quantities of information generated by their day-to-day operations. K201 is designed to provide an introduction to two of the most widespread technologies for dealing with data - spreadsheets and relational databases (SQL).
event_available Statistics If you're like most IU students, you're probably taking K300. If you're in Kelley, you're taking S301. And if you signed up for K310 because your undergrad advisor told you to, you're probably kicking yourself right now. Regardless, don't be a statistic - our tutors can help you out! We have experts in all three of the major stats courses at IU, and most of our tutors can help with other stats courses as well - including graduate-level statistics.
