Apple Tree Tutors was founded by Lori Shelton.
Lori is a veteran educator with 28 years of experience. She dedicated 15 years to the classroom and served in many other capacities throughout the years. During Lori's career, she served as a reading facilitator, an academic interventionist, a literacy coach for her home state, and taught a developmental reading course at a local community college. Lori completed her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at the University of Southern Mississippi and a master's degree at Belhaven University. She has a K-12 Reading Endorsement and completed a Phonics First Level I course while serving as a literacy coach. Lori has worked with struggling readers of all ages. Because student engagement in the learning process is crucial for students' success, she completed a course in student engagement and motivational strategies at the Center for Teacher Effectiveness in 2020.
Our goal at Apple Tree Tutors is to provide a platform for teachers to reach potential students, to provide a platform for students to find a certified teacher, and to build children's confidence in themselves through education and learning.
